Much has been written about the empty shops in central London since start of the Olympics. A few days ago I noticed Transport for London changed their message to travellers on the underground, telling them to explore shopping and leisure activities in the West End.

Personally and rather selfishly I enjoyed the last ten days as a commuter. I receive an email every day from Transport for London telling me which areas to avoid and the staff are helpful and upbeat: they are doing a marvellous job. But I did not expect Oxford Street to be so quiet.

Friday early evening I went to Westfield White City for the launch of a new fashion accessories store, Angelica London.  Having supplied Accessorize with products for years, they decided to launch their own store: best of luck to them.
